King Salmon Visitor Center
Digital Touchscreen

Our Life is a regional media project that explores the stories, people, places, social connections and environmental factors that fuel the vibrant culture of Bristol Bay. This project aims to coordinate local and regional organizations to deliver comprehensive resources that foster knowledge retention and cultural identity to promote sustainable tourism and economic development in the region.

This project was initiated in 2015 with funding from the Alaska Geographic Education Program and an Alaska Humanities Forum grant to develop a community curated digital exhibit that demonstrates the culture kaleidoscope of Bristol Bay. Local community partnerships and relationships with community advisors fuel all project themes, content, design and curation.

Alpha phase content was released on the digital touch screen at the King Salmon Visitor Center via WiFi NetWorx along with other interagency content in the summer of 2018. The US Fish & Wildlife Service section of the exhibit received an Honorable Mention Award by AIGA Alaska during Design Week at the Anchorage Museum in October of 2019. Plans are currently underway to secure the necessary funds to design and release the Beta phase in advance of the upcoming 2020 tourist season.
